Just two weeks after winning the Junior World Championships in Verona, Italy, and less than a month after clenching the NCAA Championship title at Penn State, SoCal Foilist Nick Itkin of LAIFC (and the University of Notre Dame) has just landed the National Championship title—for the second year in a row! Coming out of pools with 25 indicator points, he went on to outscore every opponent in the second round by a margin of nearly 2 to 1. The coach’s medal was presented to Nick’s proud father, Misha Itkin.

In other Championship (i.e., Div I) events, SoCal fencers walked away with two silver medals: Kasia Nixon (LAIFC / Princeton) in Women’s Epee, and Stephen Ewart (Swords / Notre Dame) in Men’s Epee.

In the NAC events, 13 medals went to fencers from the Southern California Division, including 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze.

The 2018 National Championship and April NAC took place in Richmond, Virginia, from April 20 to 23.
